As Evening Falls ...

As evening falls
At the closing
Of a warm Autumn day
And dusk tints the sky
And shadows form
I like to walk barefoot
Upon the dew kissed grass
It is soft and cool
Beneath my feet
I love the feeling
Of the cool misty air
Its gentle touch
Cool upon my skin
A soft breeze stirs
And caresses the leaves
I look to the stars
To guide my way
The moonlight is clouded
But it lights my way
As I search in the night
For an elusive flower
Its delicate perfume
Scents the evening air
Its perfume beckons
But eludes me still
Its mystery remains
Veiled by the night…

Autumn Light

My patio rose on the kitchen window sill in yesterday afternoon's Autumn light. This rose is unusual in that it produces flowers with different shades of colour, from a deeper apricot pink (see image January 27, 2015) to this golden beauty. If I leave the flowers on the plant they will fade to white.
Note the damage to my insect screen from the native Sulphur Crested Cockatoos.

The same rose in this morning's soft Autumn light. The temperature earlier today was cool and fresh but now the day has warmed, it is very hot in the sun, around 30 degrees Celsius. Summer days are reluctant to leave.

I am home from hospital ...

Thank you everyone for all of your kind wishes which you have left at my two previous posts... for your best wishes for the surgery and for my health. Also to those of you who have kindly e-mailed me and sent images of beautiful flowers to cheer me, they were very much appreciated.
I am home but still in quite a lot of pain, moving and breathing hurts. My operation, a Cholecystectomy (surgical removal of the gallbladder) and Intraoperative Cholangiogram was performed using Laparoscopic surgery, so I have quite a few wounds. Thank goodness my heart behaved itself during the surgery. The only unforeseen complication was the size of my enlarged gallbladder which was reluctant to come out and the fact that it was gangrenous. I am so fortunate that it was removed when it was otherwise the outcome could have been a lot worse. I have been sent home on some very strong antibiotics. I have to see my doctor again later today to check on my progress and healing.
I will come and visit your blogs when I am feeling a lot more energetic.

Love to all, Dianne
