In Fields of Gold

As Summer’s heat fades away
And the cool of Autumn now takes hold
The fields of grasses that once were green
Now will turn to shades of gold
Flowers drying release their seeds
Awaiting the time to renew
Shadows lengthen and shorter days
The air is cool with misty dew
The light takes on a golden hue
A glowing light that imbues
As we walk together
In fields of gold ...

Early Last Evening...

Some images of the aftermath of last nights hail storm. I have been hoping for some Autumn showers, my wish has come true. There was a deluge of rain on the Saturday night of last weekend, which caught me by surprise and I could not get back to my car for at least half an hour, not until the rain had cleared a little.
Last night was quite a light show, dark skies, crashes of thunder, flashes of lightning, then came the deluge of rain and hail stones all whipped up by the wind. The visibility was practically zero, I was so pleased to be at home. The noise was deafening and many hail stones hit my glass doors and windows, thankfully no breakages.
I actually find storms quite invigorating, you can feel the change in the atmospheric pressure, a sudden coolness in the air and the scent of rain. I am not fond of storms if I am driving.
These photos were taken after the storm had eased, some of my trees and plants are a little damaged as there are leaves and bark everywhere, I will clean up tomorrow.
When I did venture outside the air was cool and refreshing with the beautiful scent of the rain mixed the many fragrant leaves such as the Lemon Scented Gum, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus which had been torn by the ice. It was lovely to walk outside and feel the icy hail stones crunch beneath my shoes, perhaps one day there will be snow; I can only hope.

Songs of Autumn

Across wind swept meadows
The grasses are sighing
Singing their song of
Autumn’s cooler days
Sweet is the fragrance
Of meadow flowers
Carried along on
The rush of the breeze
All around the colours
Are changing
Once so bright
Now shades of pale
The chill of Autumn
Is all enfolding
The warmth of summer
Now swept away
Soon the flowers
Will all be gone ...

Once ...

Once here were echoes
Of sweet words spoken
Those of kindness, friendship and love
Now there is an emptiness
An unwanted silence
Only memories of a time
When sweet words once grew
Like flowers in the fields
They blossomed and flourished
Their colours glowing
Beneath skies of blue…
